A Talk by
David Hassard B.Tech. C.Eng. FIET
The first 20 years of David's career were with Westland Aircraft at Yeovil, starting as a technical apprentice and progressing to senior production management roles.
His father worked for de Havilland and his father-in-law at Hawker Aircraft in Kingston for 40 years. So no surprise David has
had a lifelong interest in aviation.
On retirement he started to research the history of Kingston's aviation industry and his talk will cover the history of Sopwith,
in 1912, and it's successors Hawker,
Hawker Siddeley, and BAe. Kingston through to 1992.
Illustrious designs from Kingston include
the Camel, Hurricane, Hunter, Harrier and Hawk.
